Cable Barge for All Depths

The Stemat Spirit cable barge is designed to operate in all water depths, making it a versatile vessel for various cable installation tasks.

Its six-point mooring system and DP2 system allow it to maintain position while laying cable, giving it a stable foundation for work.

The barge can also be beached when necessary, making it suitable for both deep-water and shallow-water work.

It has a strikingly large deck with a working area of 1,500m, providing ample space for cable installation and maintenance.

The Stemat Spirit has a 3,440 tonne cable carousel, which is a significant asset for its cable-laying capabilities.

The barge's ability to work in shallow and deep waters is a major advantage over conventional vessels designed for deep water only.

Its owners, VolkerWessels, designed the barge specifically to lay high-voltage cable at sea, for example from offshore windfarms to the electricity grid ashore.

The Stemat Spirit is equipped with four Caterpillar 3512 diesel engines, which drive its main azimuthing thrusters and retractable azimuthing thrusters.

Each of the HRP thrusters fitted on board is driven directly by a local diesel engine in a Z-drive configuration.

The barge has accommodation for a total of 60 people, including 28 twin cabins and four single cabins.
