The holiday season is upon us, and with it comes a slight change in trash pickup schedules. Many communities observe certain holidays, which can impact the regular collection days. In some areas, trash pickup may be delayed or skipped altogether.

For example, in areas that observe Christmas Day on December 25th, trash pickup may be delayed by one day for the remainder of the week. This means that if your regular collection day is Wednesday, it will be rescheduled for Thursday.

Some communities, however, may not observe certain holidays, or may have different collection schedules. It's essential to check with your local waste management agency to confirm their holiday schedule.

Holiday Schedule

The holiday schedule can be a bit tricky to navigate, but don't worry, I've got you covered. Trash pickup will slide to the next day for most holidays, so make sure to check your collection day to see when it will be delayed.

If you're expecting trash pickup on a Wednesday, for example, it will be collected on Thursday instead. This applies to most holidays, including New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day.

Here's a list of the holidays and their corresponding trash pickup schedule:

Some holidays, like Christmas Day and New Year's Day, will have no trash or recycling service at all. If you're expecting service on one of these days, you'll need to wait until the next scheduled collection day.

For Christmas Day, trash service will resume on Saturday, December 28, and recycling service will resume on Wednesday, January 8. For New Year's Day, trash service will resume on Saturday, January 4, and recycling service will resume on Wednesday, January 8.

No Services on Holidays

If you're planning to take a break on Christmas Day, you're in luck - trash and recycle services will be closed.

All routes will run as normal on December 24th, so make sure to get your trash and recyclables out the night before.

Recycle service will resume on January 8th for those who missed out on Christmas Day.

Here's a quick rundown of the holiday schedule:

If you're receiving Trash Only – No Recycling – on Independence Day, here's what you can expect.

Twice-per-week trash service and once-per-week recycling customers will have their service resume on the next regularly scheduled service day.

This means that you won't receive recycling collection on the day of Independence Day, but your regular trash service will still be collected.

For example, if your regular trash collection day is Wednesday, it will still be collected on Wednesday, but recycling collection will be delayed until the next regularly scheduled service day.
