Description

The MV Heng Tong 77 was a significant vessel in its time. It measured 98 metres in length and 20 metres in width, making it a substantial ship.

Built in 2010, the ship had a capacity of 3,600 tons deadweight, which is a notable amount of cargo.

Vessel Successfully Re-Float

The vessel Heng Tong 77 was successfully re-floated on 07 September 2021 after being stranded at Clifton beach, Karachi since 21 July 2021.

The salvage operation was a major challenge due to adverse swell and wind, tow-distance, and reducing the grounding reaction.

The team led by Capt. Faisal Rehman conducted an initial survey on 26th July 2021, which helped them develop a plan to re-float the vessel.

The salvage team, led by Humayun Shaikh, created a "Seamax Bullet Proof Salvage Plan" after consulting with his team, including Captain Asif Tauni and Captain Altaf Awan.

The plan was well-coordinated and prepared for a fail-safe successful attempt, and the team was confident about the outcome.

The entire Seamax team, including 130 crew members onshore and offshore, delivered 100% efficiency and were dedicated to the project's success.

The successful re-float of the vessel was a milestone in Pakistan's shipping industry, as it was the first time a stranded ship had been rescued safely using local capabilities.
