The Karachi Dock Labour Board is undergoing reforms to improve the working conditions and welfare of its employees. The board has constituted multiple committees to deliberate on measures to rationalize the organization's strength and provide better medical facilities.

The NA panel played a crucial role in bridging the gap between the Karachi Dock Labour Board (KDLB) and the Karachi Port Trust (KPT) on board constitution.

The meeting was held at the Parliament House under the chairmanship of Abdul Qadir Patel, where representatives of the joint action committee of the KDLB and KPT participated.

A serious view was taken of the KDLB workers' sit-in in front of KPT Headquarters in Karachi, prompting the committee to direct the Ministry of Maritime Affairs to prepare a new SRO.

The SRO aims to increase the members of DOK workers in the KDLB Board up to 5 to maintain a balance in the Board as per past practice.

A meeting between KDLB representatives and the Minister for Maritime Affairs was recommended, along with other stakeholders, to resolve their genuine demands and end the protest.

The committee also noted that the term of Executive Officer of KDLB has expired and recommended a fresh advertisement for the post to bring transparency in KDLB affairs.
