Gmu Mail Room Operations and Services

The George Mason University (GMU) mail room is a vital service that supports the university community.

The GMU mail room is located in the Johnson Center, room 113, and is open Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 5:00pm.

Mail services are provided to students, faculty, and staff, including mailboxes for each department and a package delivery system.

Packages are typically delivered to the mail room within 24-48 hours of arrival.

Residential students living on campus can retrieve their letter mail at the Mail Hub counter with their Mason ID and mailbox number.

If you're a residential student, you don't need to pay for a mailbox – it's free!

Off-campus students, however, can rent a mailbox at the Mail Hub customer service window for a fee.

Here are the rates for off-campus students: $25 for six months or $40 for a year.

To retrieve tracked packages, off-campus students will need to use the unique one-time code sent to their email or text alert to open the smart locker their package is in.

Opening a mailbox is a straightforward process, especially if you're a residential student. You'll be assigned a mailbox number at Mail Hub for free.

To retrieve letter mail, just head to the Mail Hub counter with your Mason ID and mailbox number in hand. You'll need both to access your mailbox.

If you're expecting a tracked package, you'll receive a unique one-time code via email or text alert. Use this code to open the smart locker where your package is stored.

After your package is retrieved, the smart locker code will be changed to prevent unauthorized access.

Off-campus students can also rent a mailbox at the Mail Hub customer service window. The rental options are straightforward: six months costs $25, while a year-long rental costs $40.

Receiving packages at Mason is a breeze. You'll receive notifications by email or text with the locker number and a unique one-time code to retrieve your package. This way, you can pick up your packages at the Mail Hub in smart lockers.
