Ship Features

Reportedly Sold as Scrap

The Delphin was reportedly sold for scrap at a recent auction, marking the end of its years-long layup at the Victor Lenak Shipyard in Rijeka, Croatia.

Built in 1975, the vessel had been laid up for several years, and its sale was necessary to settle debts of its former owners, who failed to pay for basic necessities like electricity and water.

The winning bid was placed by a Turkish Recycling Shipyard, who offered 3.6 million euro for the 470-passenger vessel.

The company now has 30 days to pay the purchase price, after which the vessel will be dismantled in Turkey.

The Delphin was built as a Soviet cruise-ferry and last served as an accommodation ship.

The world's largest short sea RoRo vessel, the MV Delphin, has been fitted with two impressive rotor sails.

These tilting rotor sails are estimated to achieve a fuel and emission reduction saving of between 7 to 10% for the vessel, depending on the route.

The rotor sails are a game-changer for the shipping industry, and Norsepower, the Finnish cleantech company behind the technology, is at the forefront of this innovation.

The MV Delphin's redeployment to the fleet will help meet the current high levels of customer demand, and the shipowner, CLdN, is excited to test the technology on their current fleet and new-build vessels.

MS Delphin Cabins

The MS Delphin cruise ship has a total of 237 staterooms for 474 passengers, with a maximum capacity of 640. The ship is served by 230 crew and staff.

Inside and Oceanview cabins on decks 2-3-4 have 2 bunk beds and a double sofabed. Oceanview cabins on deck 2 have 2 bunk beds plus a double sofabed.

Cabins in the "Comfort" and "Luxury" categories on the Boat Deck feature large windows, double beds with separate mattresses, and premium furniture. These cabins also have a refrigerator and minibar.

Window Suites on the Boat Deck have large slanted windows, a separate living room with luxury furniture, and a bedroom with a double bed and separate mattresses. The bathroom in these suites features a whirlpool bathtub.

All staterooms on the MS Delphin have standard amenities such as LCD TVs, radios, phones, electronic safe boxes, hairdryers, writing desks, bedside tables, and reading lamps. They also have en-suite bathrooms with washbasins, WCs, and showers.
