Search and Rescue Efforts
The search and rescue efforts for the missing crew member are currently underway. The crew's vessel, a 50-foot sailboat, was last seen 20 miles off the coast of Hawaii.
The US Coast Guard was notified of the missing crew member at 10:45 AM local time, and a search operation was launched immediately.
The Coast Guard's MH-65 Dolphin helicopter was deployed to assist in the search, and a C-130 Hercules aircraft was also dispatched to scour the surrounding area.
The crew's emergency position-indicating radio beacon (EPIRB) was activated, but the signal has been weak and intermittent, making it difficult for rescuers to pinpoint the crew's location.
The search area is approximately 200 square miles, and the Coast Guard is working closely with local authorities to coordinate the rescue efforts.
